A Glam, Labryinth-Inspired Wedding

Last November we designed a glam, fairytale wedding at Capitale for a young DJ-bride and her rocker groom who wanted something nontraditional that represented the two as a couple – a special couple at that.  Inspired by the film Labyrinth with David Bowie, the bride asked for the movie's aesthetic to permeate the entire wedding design - from the table numbers in crystal balls to the gothic, romantic and seasonal floral design.  The design scheme became a pleasant challenge for us to translate the 1986 British/American fantasy film into reality with flowers and environmental decor. The above bridesmaid bouquets included Amensia roses, white garden roses, white ranunculus, antique green hydrangea and dusty miller.  The always romantic and antique-like Amnesia roses - the beautiful mauve-gray blooms - became a fundamental element of the reception arrangments. The final table design included high arrangements of antique green hydrangea, Amensia roses, open red roses, purple dahlias, red grapes and hanging amaranthus.  We set Venetian mask atop each place setting in keeping with the initial inspiration.See the wedding come to life in this upbeat video to On Melancholy Hill by the Gorillaz, the same track to which the modern couple walked down the aisle.  You can also read more about the bride and groom here in two special features from the New York Times and Rock 'n Roll Bride.
